Joseph Magill Alcorn – Charleroi

Joseph Magill Alcorn, 80, of Charleroi, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2023. Joe was born in Vandergrift on June 13, 1942, to the late Richard and Helen Learn Alcorn. After graduating high school, Joe served his country honorably in the United States Army overseas in Vietnam. Joe worked for many years as a newspaper carrier for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Mon Valley Independent. Joe worked as a photographer and owned his own studio. Joe was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan who loved cheering for the Pirates and loved spending time with his family and friends. Surviving to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife, Jean Alcorn; his sons, Joseph (Andrea) Alcorn, Charles Alcorn and Daniel Alcorn; his daughters, Geraldine Alcorn and Mary Alcorn; Joe’s brother, Richard Alcorn; and sisters, Theresa Jones and Berneice (Fred) Smith. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded by his brother, William Alcorn; his brother-in-law, William Jones; and sister-in-law, Carol Alcorn. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Saint Andrew the Apostle – Charleroi site, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi.
