Jason J. Steiner – Jefferson Hills

By obits

Jason J. Steiner, 48, of Jefferson Hills, passed away tragically on Sunday, April 23, 2023, and was reunited with his mother, Mary. Born Aug. 8, 1974, in McKeesport, he is the son of the late Mary Vislay Boyd, who passed away Feb. 7, 2018, and Patrick K. (Mary) Steiner Sr. of Jefferson Hills. Catholic by faith, Jason was a 1992 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and would find his peace in the serenity of the mountains. He was an avid outdoorsman and a skilled hunter, achieving many trophies, along with experiences with his son, family and close friends that some would only dream of. His strong passion for the peace of nature brought him to cherish his camps in Punxsutawney, and most recently the Steiners’ beautiful camp in Benezette, where he spent almost every weekend. Jason was strong willed, kind and a provider and teacher for his family. Jason was employed by Maxim Crane Works for over 20 years. He began his career as a union crane operator and advanced into a management position as a crane specialist, especially crawler cranes throughout the country. His talents in the field would eventually lead him to be selected to travel to California to perform the historic lift of the Space Shuttle “Endeavor.” This was something he and his family were very proud of. Left to cherish his memory, along with many friends, are his wife of 25 years, Lisa (Ratay) Steiner, whom he married May 30, 1998; and two children, Jason and Laci Steiner of Jefferson Hills; siblings, Patrick Steiner (Isabel), Christine Johnston (Jason) and David Steiner (Therese), all of Jefferson Hills, and Shawn Boyd (Selena) of Edmund, Okla.; his father-in-law, Eugene (Cathy) Ratay of Butler; his mother-in-law, Nancy Forsythe of West Mifflin; and nieces and nephews, Angel, Anthony, Natalee, Bryan, Autumn, Emma, Ariya and Sienna. Deceased in addition to his mother, is a stepfather, Wayne Boyd, who died Feb. 4, 2006. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 722 W. Main St., Monongahela. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. A procession will follow to Jefferson Memorial Park, where interment will be held. Condolences can be made online at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in memory of Jason at Keystone Elk Country Alliance, experienceelkcountry.com/donate/ or at 134 Homestead Drive, Benezette, PA 15821.
