Thomas S. Benedict – Monongahela

Thomas S. Benedict, 75, of Monongahela, died Friday, April 14, 2023, in Premier Washington Health Center, Washington. He was born Dec. 24, 1947, in Pittsburgh, the son of Joseph J. and Margaret Joyce Benedict. Tom was a graduate of Mon Valley Catholic High School. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Tom practiced law in Monongahela for many years. Tom was a beloved son, brother and uncle. His infectious laugh will be missed. He is survived by his brother, Coleman (Jeanne) Benedict of Upper St. Clair; Coleman’s six children, Heather, Coleman Jr., Lauren, Courtney, Christopher and Meredith, their families and children; his sister, Joyce A. Belan of Windermere, Fla.; Joyce’s two children, Ken and Joy, their families and children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph J. Benedict Jr., who died in infancy, and his niece, Cindy. Funeral services are private. Burial will be held in the Benedict family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Monongahela.
