Helen J. Stanish – Fayette City
Helen J. Stanish, 93, of Fayette City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late John and Julia Pokros Rutkowski, she was born in Duquesne on Nov. 17, 1929. Helen was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and the former Holy Spirit Church of Fayette City. Formerly of Duquesne, she had been a resident of Fayette City for the past 65 years. She was an avid bowler, having previously belonged to many leagues, and loved building 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose M. and Thomas Young of Harmony, Pa., and Julie and Robert Henry of North Huntingdon; a son, Tim Stanish of Fayette City; three grandchildren, Brad (Caitlyn) Rohlf of Winnabow, N.C., Jessica (Alec) McGaffic of Naples, Italy, and Jennifer (Matthew) Wilson of N. Huntingdon; three great- grandchildren, Connor Rohlf, Blair Rohlf and Nathan McGaffic, and two “on the way.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Stanish, on March 12, 2020; and three brothers, John “Sonny” Rutkowski, Donald Rutkowski and Raymond Rutkowski. A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, Irwin, PA 15642, with Father John A. Moineau as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
