Dorothy Ann Sotak, 93, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 31, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 12, 1930, in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Charles “Chick” and Anna Mae Bortak Dansak. She was the wife of the late Michael Vincent Sotak, who passed away Feb. 8, 2007. Dorothy was a member of the former Holy Trinity Church in McKeesport and was the reunion treasurer for the McKeesport High School Class of 1947. She enjoyed line dancing, ceramics and her Slovak heritage and food. She is survived by her children, Daniel Michael (Linda) Sotak of Rostraver, Cynthia Louise Giejda of Farmingdale, N.J., and Timothy Michael (Barbara) Sotak of Clarksville; grandchildren, Bridget (Andrew) Valentine, Daniel Sotak Jr., Ryan (fiancée, Molly) Sotak and Michael Giejda; great-grandchildren, Graham and Autumn Valentine; brother, Charles (Evelyn) Dansak of McKeesport; sisters, Carol Taylor of West Mifflin, Virginia Neal, Janet Wargo and Maryann Dansak of McKeesport, Marsha (Robert) Killian of Elizabeth Township and Kathleen Cortes of Liberty Borough. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Dansak; and son-in-law, Mark Giejda. Friends are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township, 412-751-5000, Drew J. Gilbert, director. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023. The Rev. Thomas Dansak will officiate. Interment will follow at the Corpus Christi Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
