Jessie Lou Petrick Papini – Roscoe

By obits

Our dear mother, Jessie Lou Petrick Papini, 88, of Roscoe, died on March 25, 2023, after a long, full life. She was very loved and will be truly missed.  She was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Roscoe, the youngest daughter of Joseph and Pearl Gainer Petrick. Jessie Lou graduated from California Community High School in 1952. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Larry, in 1956. Jessie Lou and Larry celebrated 65 years of marriage. Jessie Lou was a wonderful wife, mother and cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She was a very positive person and always looked for the good in everyone. She had a big heart and an amazing ability to bring joy to all with her kind words. She always had a hot pot of coffee brewing and welcomed all to her home. Her porch was a place for love, laughter and storytelling. Jessie Lou enjoyed being a hostess, especially having her family and friends over for her famous Sunday spaghetti dinners. Jessie Lou loved to send cards and notes that would brighten up someone’s day. She always found a way to get to your heart — where she will always hold a cherished place. She enjoyed reading, decorating her home, especially during the holidays, and getting her hair and nails done weekly. You would never see her without her signature pink lipstick. Jessie Lou was active in her community and was a long-time member of Roscoe United Methodist Church. She is survived by her five children, USA Col. ret. Larry (Marsha) Papini Jr., of California, Pa.; USA Master Sgt. ret. Jay (Jean) Papini of Somerset; Jan Papini Sckena of Centerville, Jodi (Pat) Lien of Winter Garden, Fla., and USAF Maj. ret. Jennifer (Mike) Lukas of Rostraver. Jessie Lou loved her 11 grandchildren, Melynda (Joe) Girdwood, Dr. Sarah and Jacob Sckena, Dr. Jamie Rae and Anthony (Kelsey) Papini, Lt. Patrick (Jill), Connor (Jenn) and Jessica Lien, Larry and Gabriella Papini and Wyatt Lukas; and adored her five great-grandchildren; Joseph, Zander, Xavier, Jordyn and Josie. She also had a sister-in-law, Claudia Petrick of Roscoe, and many nieces and nephews that she truly cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Papini; and seven siblings, Thelma Jane Campisi, Dolores Edwards, Agnes Veres, Evelyn Keene, Mary Ethel Miller, Jo Ann Charielle and Joseph Petrick. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, with the Rev. Brian Carroll presiding. Online condolences may be expressed at www.melenyzer.com.
