Virginia L. Calderone – Smithton

Virginia L. Calderone, 85, of Smithton, passed away on March 20, 2023, in Latrobe, Pa. She was born in Springdale, Pa., to Paul M. Wachtler and Virginia L. Burns Wachtler on May 19, 1937. She was a graduate of Latrobe High School and worked at Bell Telephone Company for a year until she was married to Robert Calderone on April 18, 1959. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings; she was the last of eight. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Roberta Calderone of Smithton; and her sons, Jeffrey and his wife Christine of Smithton, and Vincent and his wife Donna of Scottdale. Virginia had four grandchildren, Justin (Stacey), Adan (Darci), Samantha and Aaron. She also had six great-grandchildren, Ryeley, Arya, Luca, Tessa, Maya and Emma. There are many nieces and nephews as well. Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. “Mom Mom,” as she was known to all, loved her old movies, old songs, her friends and family. She will be very missed. She spent the majority of her life taking care of everyone else. Heaven gained a true angel. Virginia will be cremated, and there will be no funeral services held. Arrangements handled by L. L.
