Joe died at home on Saturday, March 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family: wife, Margaret “Peggy”, of 62 years; his daughter, Natalie Komacek; and sons, Joseph Jr. and David. He served overseas for his country during the Korean Conflict as a sergeant repairing aircraft radios. Upon returning home from overseas, he enrolled in plumbing school and earned his degree as a master plumber. Joe opened his own business with the motto, “knowledge, quality and integrity.” He served the Mon Valley for over 50 years, with his sons carrying on that tradition. He was a longtime member of the Charleroi Lions Club. He was a Melvin Jones award winner and past president and was noted for being the Lions Club Santa at the school for many years. Joe was very involved in the radio control aircraft scene. He was past president of the Missed Approach R.C. Club and was well known for his glider skills, spending many hours of his retirement at the flying field. Joe lived a very full and wonderful life and will be greatly missed by family, friends and customers. MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, was in charge of the arrangements. Condolences can be made online at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
