Joan Patricia Fulmer, 86 years old of Dunlevy, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Monessen, on Feb. 23, 1937, daughter of the late John and Anne Mazur Pohlot. She was a graduate of Monessen High School with the Class of 1955. She worked at Prudential Insurance Co., Dee’s Record Shop and Duritza’s Market in earlier days, and later at Montgomery Ward and The Valley Independent. A lifelong animal lover, she had many pets over the years and worked with helping rescue animals in her neighborhood. She leaves behind several cats, Ladybug, Marco and Breeze, whom she loved and cared for daily. In earlier years, she enjoyed visiting casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and locally at The Meadows, The Rivers and Wheeling Island. Shopping and dining out were also an important part of her life. Surviving are husband of 48 years, James H. Fulmer of Dunlevy; sister, Judy H. Pohlot of Monessen; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Hunnell of Washington. She was preceded in death by her son, Kerry L.Kiefer, on Feb. 10, 2023; and her stepfather, Wilbur C. Clark Sr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Services will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. March 23, 2023. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen, PA 15062.
