David ‘Mapes’ Lawrence Armstrong – Charleroi
David “Mapes” Lawrence Armstrong, 61, of Charleroi, died Thursday March 16, 2023, at home. He was born Jan. 4, 1962 in McKeesport, the son of the late Roy L. Arm-strong and Joyce Kostelansky Armstrong, who survives and resides in Charleroi. Dave was a 1979 graduate of Charleroi High School and a member of Malden Christian Fellowship Church. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during peacetime. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for ESSI and an instructor at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He enjoyed golfing, steelhead fishing in Erie and playing NHL on Xbox. He loved his Harley and turtles. Dave was a family man and adored his children and grandchildren. He had a really strong faith. He is survived by his children, Nicole (fiance Jeffrey Pletcher) Armstrong and Brandy (CJ) Gillen, all of Stockdale, Kaylee (fiance Shayne Markoff) Selvoski of Bentleyville, Zachary Dayner of Belle Vernon, and David James Armstrong and Jacob Armstrong, both of California; seven grandchildren, Serena (Aaron Ellis) Pletcher, Julian, Nariah and Noah Pletcher, Bailey and Miko Gillen and Kendall Selvoski; a great-granddaughter, Aylah Ellis; three brothers, twin, Danny (Sandy) Armstrong of Wheeling, W.Va., Tom (Brenda) Armstrong of Jefferson and Kevin Armstrong of Charleroi; nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Terri, Casey, Anthony, Josh, Taylor, Andrew, Tristan and Jenna; girlfriend, Kristine Surbella; along with special friends and family. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Roy L. Armstrong and David Maple; and brother, Roy Armstrong. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
