Carl Menego – Monessen

Carl Menego, 79, of Monessen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 16, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was born on Nov. 1, 1943, to Guido and Rose (Kotchman) Menego in Cokeburg, Pa. He was a graduate of Charleroi High School, Class of 1961. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served until 1968. Upon discharge he worked full time with the Air National Guard 112th Tactical Fighter Group and the 171st Air Refueling Wing. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, where he served 26 years on council in the capacity of secretary, vice president and president of the church council. He also served as church financial secretary for 10 years. Carl was honored by receiving the Parishioner of the Year award. He served his beloved St. Spyridon church in other capacities as a worker for the church festivals, custodian and in many other ways that he could. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Eugenia “Jeannie” (Manos) Menego; two daughters, Alexandra “Sandy” (Bill Pireaux) Jacobs and Tina (Craig) Lee; three grandchildren, Peter and Hannah Lee and Jack Jacobs; sister-in-law, Maria Planey; two nephews, John Wheeler and Richard (Regina) Planey; nieces, Denise Wheeler and Beth Planey; great nieces, Megan and Lauren Planey; and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Elaine Wheeler; and in-laws, Gus and Matina Manos. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, Pa. Additional visitation will be held from  9 until 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. A funeral service will follow with Fr. Meletios Gianniodis officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Online condolences can be given at www.billicksfuneralhome.com.
