It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kenneth Rickey Auther of Fayette City, who passed away on March 14, 2023, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. Rickey was a social member of the Fayette City American Legion Post 484 and a permanent fixture of Crystal Pool. He joined the Fayette City VFC on Feb. 28, 1969, and was a 54-year life member of the company. Rickey enjoyed spending his time with family and friends and also making keychains. Rickey was very close with Jan Booth and her family and considered them part of his family. He is survived by his sister, Ella Marie Auther Davis; niece, Cynthia Lynn Davis; nephew, Thomas Scott Davis and wife Janet. He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Thomas and Jennifer Davis, Mary and Lee Taylor, Michael and Hannah Davis, Joshua and Jill Steele, Michelle Nelson, Nicole Davis, Dylan and Oxana Davis; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Sophia Davis, Oliver and Henry Taylor, Bailey and Brynn Davis, Zoey Dunham, Caleb Day and Olivia Steele. He was preceded in death by his father, Dell Auther; and mother, Marion Astle Auther. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, at ELEY/MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, in the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon. Fayette City Fire Co. will conduct services at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fayette City VFC, P.O. Box 115, Fayette City, PA 15438.
