A recessed Charleroi council meeting resumed and ended Monday without any business matters being discussed, at least publicly. Council’s meeting last Wednesday was recessed instead of adjourned so council members could gather at 6 p.m. Monday for “an executive discussion to discuss specific potential litigation.” It was never disclosed what or who that potential litigation involved, but before moving to private discussions Monday, councilman Jerry Jericho sought more information about the closed-door discussion, asking why the matter should not be discussed in public. Based on the people in attendance, it could be concluded that the matter involved ongoing discussions with the Authority of the Borough of Charleroi about a proposed purchase of the borough’s sewer lines.
