Frazier’s Rune Lawrence has completed Step 3 of a four-step process following a fall during the finals of the PIAA Class 2A Individual Wrestling Championships Saturday afternoon at the Giant Center in Hershey. Lawrence (112-7, 45-3) planked Brookville’s Jackson Zimmerman (90-25, 38-5) in 2:42 at 189-pounds to become Pennsylvania’s 54th three-time state champion. Wyoming’s Jaden Pepe won his third at 133. Greater Latrobe’s Vinny Kilkeary earned his third state title with a victory at 127 in Class 3A. Lawrence will seek to become the 14th four timer next season. “I got that first takedown, and then from there, I knew I was confident that I could do it,” Lawrence said. “It’s awesome. I am one step closer to my ultimate goal. It is more of a relief now as much as it is exciting. It is not complete until I get four.”
