William ‘Bill’ L. Ashcraft – Monongahela

By obits

William “Bill” L. Ashcraft, 65, of Monongahela, Carroll Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in his home. Born Sept. 23, 1957, in McKeesport, he is the son of the late Marsha J. Fine Ashcraft, who passed away Nov. 10, 1998, and George W. Ashcraft (Cathy Glad) of Monongahela. A 1975 graduate of Monongahela High School, Bill worked in construction his entire life. He started with his dad at Ashcraft Construction Co. in Monongahela and was known around the Valley for his concrete skills, working for the local Laborers Union No. 58 until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the Arroas Haymakers Club in New Eagle. Bill is survived by his wife, Kimberly Szubra Ashcraft, whom he married Dec. 21, 1984; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara D. (Leo) Cialone of Donora; three brothers, Alan E. (Debbie) Ashcraft of Belle Vernon, Timothy R. Ashcraft of New Eagle and Harry J. (Doreen) Ashcraft of Elizabeth; a sister, Nora D. (Daniel) Muccino of Monongahela; two grandchildren, Layla and Ezabella Cialone; and a sister-in-law, Barbara (Patrick) Schmidt of Smock. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel, who died in infancy; and twin grandsons, Frank and Grant Cialone. Bill was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. Although he was difficult at times, he cherished his wife and daughter and is now out of pain and at peace. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, with a service starting at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Walt Pietschmann officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. At the family’s request they’re asking to make a donation in Bill’s name to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences can be made online at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
