Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Kearns Hoosac – New Eagle

Elizabeth “Libby” Kearns Hoosac, 78, of New Eagle died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in her home. Born in Charle- roi on June 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Seth and Nellie Sutherland Kearns. After graduating third in her class in 1962 from the former Bentleyville High School, Libby began working at the Monongahela Eat’n Park, where she met her future husband Peter Hoosac Sr. They were married Oct. 5, 1963. A homemaker for most of her life, she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Monongahela. Surviving are her two daughters, Kimberly J. (Tom) Mordecki of Carroll Township and Desiree Hoosac (Ron) of New Eagle; two sons, Peter (Seth) Hoosac of New Eagle and Matthew “Shane” (Jon) Hoosac of West Carrollton, Ohio; a sister, Geraldine and husband Everett McElfresh of Monessen; four grandchildren, Starsha (Jason) Malek, Brittany Vlosich, Deanne Trumpie (Matt) and Nichalaus (Kristen) Anderson; and seven great-grandchildren, Alaunna Malek and Bryce (Jazmine) Malek, Caleb and Gabriella Vlosich, Jordan and Cameron Anderson and Eliza Wirick. Preceding her in death was her husband, Peter Hoosac Sr., who died Aug. 22, 2021; and two brothers, David and Keith Kearns. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, with the Rev. Raymond DiCamillo officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
