Phyllis Axton, 87, Donora, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born July 3, 1935, in Bentleyville, daughter of the late Francis Heckman and the late Alice Trumpie Heckman. Phyllis was a very involved member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Donora. She also volunteered for several years at the Donora Senior Center. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by the love of her life, William R. Axton; four sisters, Ruth, Thelma, Sue and Audrey; and three brothers, Joe, Earl and James Heckman. Surviving to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Roxanne (Bob) Vitale of Donora, and Terri (Brad) Caldwell of S.C.; grandchildren, Rick Sichi, Nicole Caldwell, Melissa (Brent) Hedrick and Ryan Vitale (Rachelle Vitale); great-grandchildren, Ryan Jr., Willow and Finn; brother, Nick (Maxine) Heckman; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900.
