Joel “Lee” Kramer, 84, of Monongahela, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, in his home. Born Aug. 18, 1938, in New Eagle, he was the son of the late Leo and Margaret Burns Kramer. A tool and die maker by trade, Lee worked for over 25 years as a shop steward for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette until his retirement in 2000. After his graduation in 1956 from Monongahela High School, Lee served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, the 11th Street Athletic Club, the Monongahela Elks Lodge, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the former I.C.C. (Italian Citizens Club) in Monongahela, where his team won the 1972 Bocce championship. An avid golfer, Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, Pirates and Monongahela Wildcats fan, he was a Pitt football season ticket holder belonging to their Golden Panther Club. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Affinito Kramer, whom he married Nov. 6, 1962; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Patrick (Donna) Kramer of Monongahela and Tim Kramer of Carnegie; a brother, Raymond Kramer (Doug) of Portersville, Pa.; sister-in-law, Amy Kramer of Wildwood, N.J.; two grandchildren, Leah (Shawn) Scheponik and Jared (Cheyenne) Kramer; and two brothers-in-law, Bernard (Billreda) Affinito of Dresden, Ohio, and Mark (Kathy) Affinito of Monongahela, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Kramer. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela. The family would like to extend their thanks to all the nurses and aides, especially Mary and Jackie.
