By obits

Jaqueline “Jackie” Namie Pogoda, 80, of Charleroi, Carroll Township, was called to her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Feb. 23, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Norman Michael and Sarah Joseph Namie. Born Aug. 11, 1942, at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital, she was a 1960 graduate of the former Donora High School and the Douglas School of Business in Monessen. Jackie attended the Pittsburgh Playhouse, where she performed in many musicals and theatre productions. She was accepted into the Duquesne Tamburitzen program and was a graduate of the John Robert Pauley Modeling School. She did some modeling afterward, locally and around the Pittsburgh area. She was a professional singer and voice instructor who was known throughout the local and Pittsburgh area for her numerous performances with bands and orchestras. Jackie also had the honor of performing in Greece at the ancient Parthenon on the Athenian Acropolis, where her angelic voice radiated throughout the hills. This was one of her most treasured memories. She was a member of the former St. Michaels Syrian Antiochian Orthodox Church in Monessen, where she sang in the choir. Jackie is survived by two loving and devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Sam Rahman of North Strabane and Laurel and Tim Bukowski of Rostraver Township; six grandchildren, whom she adored and found endlessly amusing, Natalie, Colton, Cole, Noah, Jadon and Brenton; her grandog, Layla; treasured friend, Natalee Russo-Amati of Monongahela; along with numerous dear nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Pogoda, who passed Jan. 30, 1999; infant daughter, Jackie Lee; and two sisters, Dolores Kellerberg and Norma Jean Solomon. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jackie’s medical team including Anant Gandhi, M.D., and her entire Southwest Medical Center PCP team, as well as Adam Dore M.D., her AHN rheumatologist and Drs. Charles M. Brown and Michael Nathanson, cardiologists, as well as her other numerous team of physicians and nurses at AHN Jefferson Hospital, particularly in the ED and on the fifth floor. Friends will be received at Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess St., Monongahela (https://tinyurl.com/mwfpwysy) 724-258-6767, from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2023.
