Batter up for Pancake Day. Families from across the Mon Valley stepped up to their plates yesterday for the Belle Vernon Rotary Club’s 59th annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Festival at St. Sebastian Regional Catholic School in North Belle Vernon. From 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., around 500 people enjoyed pancakes and sausage prepared by Rotary Club members and students from Belle Vernon Area and Frazier high school’s Interact Clubs. “We bought around 80 pounds of sausage,” Rotary club member Jim Monahan said. “Around 150 pounds of flour and 40 pounds of buckwheat flour.”
