Sara Scalise, 87, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023. A daughter of the late Francero Longo and Castanza Marinelli, she was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy, on March 16, 1935. A resident of Belle Vernon most of her adult life, Sara was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. She loved cooking her Italian dishes, was very family oriented and was always very welcoming to everyone she met. She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Conti of Rostraver and Connie Roberts of Belle Vernon; a son and daughter in-law, Tony and Vicki Scalise of North Carolina; a sister, Catherine Duva of Brighton, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Anthony Scalise, Christopher Scalise, Theresa Roskovich, Michael Roskovich, Joshua (Kimberly) Scalise, Daniel Conti and Rita Conti; and seven great-grandchildren, Ava Scalise, Gino Scalise, Luca Scalise, Dominic Boehm, Kylie Conti, Angelina Conti and Elaina Conti. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Scalise, on Jan. 6, 1990; a son-in-law, Dan Conti; two brothers, Michael Longo and Vito Longo; a sister, Theresa Greco; and a granddaughter, Sarah Houseman. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A blessing will be held in the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with Father Michael Crookston as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
