Bonnie Joanne Pope, 67, of Port Vue, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at home. She was born June 6, 1955, in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Gordon Eynon and Bernice Lucille “Lu” (Edwards) Koon. She was a member of Greenock United Methodist Church. As an adult, she obtained her associate degree from CCAC and later her bachelor’s degree at Cal U. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and accountant for Gardner-Pope Architecture. She was involved with the Elizabeth Township Community Chorus and would sing at her church and for special occasions. Bonnie was a kind person and was a lifelong Sunday school teacher, avid reader, crafter and seamstress. Most importantly, Bonnie was a great wife, mother and Mimi to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, the Rev. Edwin D. Pope; children, Rebecca (Tracey) Pope-Ruark, Jayne (Kyle) Ferkett and Derrick (Karyn) Pope; grandchildren, Ethan, Teagan, Devyn and Georgina; brothers, Charles (Sharon) Koon and John (Cindy) Koon; her dog, Sabastion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township, 412-751-5000, Drew J. Gilbert, director. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, with Pastor Andrew Flower officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bonnie’s name can be made to Greenock United Methodist Church, 1213 Greenock Buena Vista Road, McKeesport, PA 15135, or to the American Diabetes Association,at diabetes.org.
