Phyllis Eileen Wade Myers – Monessen

By obits

Phyllis Eileen Wade Myers, 70, of Monessen, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Friday morning, Feb. 10, 2023. She was born March 4, 1952, to the late James O. Wade, Sr. and Viola L. Jones Wade. She endured sickness most of her life, but always bounced back. Surely, the hand of the Lord was upon her. She wore the blessings of God well. Phyllis was a lover of sports and a hard-core competitor. Although she could not participate in most physical activities due to severe asthma, she didn’t allow that to stop her from perfecting her ping pong game. And then there was Chinese checkers, which she loved and excelled in. Because she spent a lot of her time in the kitchen with our mother, she learned Mom’s secret recipes. No one else could cook like our mother except Phyllis. She brought that experience to Maggie’s Kitchen as a line chef. She also worked at Charland for a short while. Phyllis devoted her time to serving the Lord using her strong gift of helps in culinary, hospitality, as an usher and cleaning staff. She accepted Christ in her youth and faithfully served at Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ, Whole Truth Church of God in Christ and recently, Free Indeed Ministry. She was a 1971 graduate of Monessen High School and received several certificates in other areas of interest, like cake decorating. She was married to Walter Maurice Myers Jr. of Aliquippa, Pa. As a member of the Wade Sisters, Phyllis sang the tenor part. Eventually, she became comfortable enough to lead a few selections. She was never one to be in the forefront. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, James O. Wade Sr. and Viola L. Jones Wade, leaving her siblings to cherish her memory: Janice (Glenn) Whittle of Pittsburgh, James O. (Jacqueline) Wade Jr. of Elizabeth, Dennis M. Wade and Carol L. Wade of Monessen; Linda (Rubin) Cheeks of Pittsburgh, Charlene (Alfred) Templeton of Columbus, Ohio, Karla J. Wade of Monessen, Kenneth D. Wade and friend Teresa Bennett of Washington, Pa.; and Viola B. Wade and friend James Brown of Pittsburgh; one uncle, Elder Maurice B. (Mildred) Wade Sr. of Donora; one aunt, Joretta Lyons of North Bellmore, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Free Indeed Ministry, 401 Second St., Monongahela, PA 15063. A home going service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Free Indeed Ministry and can be viewed on Facebook Live. The eulogy will be given by Pastor Frank Sloan Jr., pastor of Free Indeed Ministry, Monongahela, Pa. Final celebrations are entrusted to MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, Pa., 724-258-6767. The service will be followed by entombment at Mon Valley Memorial Park, 49 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted online at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
