Monessen sets up payments to city’s line usage fund

Monessen council approved a resolution last night that will mandate and organize the city’s repayment of funds that were improperly transferred out of the line usage fund. Transfers made from the city’s line usage fund in 2015, 2016 and 2021 were made improperly and without the approval of council. When Monessen council members heard the 2021 audit report last summer, they learned that roughly $450,000 had been improperly borrowed and would need to be paid back.
