The Superior Court of Pennsylvania has ruled that dockets related to the case against a man accused in connection with a November homicide in Rostraver Township must be made public.
The Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press, the Mon Valley Independent and two other local newspapers appealed a December order from Westmoreland County Judge Christopher Feliciani that kept the arrest warrant information sealed in the case against Keven Van Lam, 55, of Rostraver Township.
In its ruling Wednesday, the Superior Court upheld the ruling of Feliciani “as it pertains to the sealing of the following ‘arrest warrant information’ … the Commonwealth’s petition to seal, the criminal complaint and the affidavit of probable cause… All sealed information shall remain under seal until the time of the preliminary hearing…”
Lam’s preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Monday in Westmoreland County Court’s Senior Judge’s Courtroom before Magisterial District Judge Wayne Vlasic.
