Kathy Louise Stanley, 62, of McKeesport, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023. She was born Jan. 26, 1961, in Wilkinsburg, daughter of the late Albert Obies Sr. and the late Betty May Hockenbery-Bergman. Kathy was a very giving, loving and fun mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always the neighborhood mom, and her house was always the place for kids to hang out growing up. She loved listening to James Taylor, playing Bingo, going on shopping trips and passing time by playing games on her phone. She would snack on Milky Way bars and would eat the whole bag if her family would let her. She loved spending time with her whole family the most. Kathy always said she had six children, but one of them had four legs because her dog, Pickles, was her best friend. She is survived by her children, Crystal (Earl) Simms of Carrick, Shannon Ward of Iowa, Sara Sturges of McKeesport, Kelsi Stanley Candelore of Port Vue and Bryan Gilbert Jr. of Elizabeth; grandchildren, DJ, Bailey, Zachary, Malayah, Jordan, Aidan, Sophia, Hope, Addison, Maci, Mia, Lillyana, Luka and Luna; great-grandchildren, Kamari and Nikko; her siblings, Betty Foley and Mary Ann Wardach; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her grandson, Donte; her brother, Albert “Buch” Obies Jr., and sisters, Delilah Donoghue and Tina Mowery. There is no visitation. Arrangements are by GILBERT FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township, 412-751-5000, Drew J. Gilbert, director. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at R-Place Restaurant, 102 Enterprise St., Elizabeth, PA 15037. Condolences can be made at Gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
