McKeesport police Officer Sean Sluganski was fatally shot Monday afternoon while responding to a domestic disturbance. Another officer, Charles “Chuck” Thomas, was critically wounded in the same incident. He was flown to a Pittsburgh-area trauma center and was able to return home Monday night. McKeesport police Chief Adam Alfer confirmed the identity of both officers in a statement Monday and expressed sympathy to their loved ones. “This is a tragic loss for our department and our community,” Alfer said. “We have lost a friend, a trusted colleague and an officer whose passion was providing service to the public. At this time, we ask that you keep all of our officers and their families in your hearts, particularly the families of Officer Sluganski and Officer Thomas.”
