Elizabeth Sukel Eversburg – Belle Vernon

Elizabeth Sukel Eversburg, 92, of Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Residence At Hilltop, Carroll Township. Born Dec. 7, 1930, in Belle Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Mornak Sukel. Mrs. Eversburg was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. Elizabeth was an independent woman who enjoyed spending time helping others. Over the years she volunteered her time serving the Catholic Daughters of  the Americas, where she held several offices. She served St. Vincent de Paul as a cashier, Meals on Wheels packing meals, Fellsburg Food Bank handing out food to the needy and cleaning and decorating St. Sebastian R.C. Church. Elizabeth also attended daily Mass and assisted as Eucharistic minister in church and for homebound members. In her early years, Elizabeth worked at Caminos Restaurant, and in her later years she was a housekeeper at the St. Sebastian Rectory for many years. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Ronald Pierce of Rostraver, and Mary Kay and John Barton of Duncansville; sister, Geraldine DeFrancesco; four grandchildren, Nicole Verkleeren, Alison Lofink, Chad Barton and Matt Barton; and seven great-grandchildren, Emma Verkleeren, Aiden Verkleeren, Emilia Lofink, Macey Verkleeren, Elijah Lofink, Elaina Lofink and Baker Barton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Eversburg on Jan. 20, 1989; infant daughter, Gloriann Eversburg; and three brothers; James Sukel, Raymond Sukel and Richard Sukel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant.
