James Richard Hommey, 85, of Monongahela, found his way to Heaven on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023. He was born Oct. 27, 1937, in New Eagle, the son of John and Hannah Walters Hommey. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Monongahela High School and a member of First United Methodist Church in Monongahela. He was a peacetime veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired as an electrician from Cooper Power, where he was employed for over 30 years. Jim was a family man and will be remembered for being a loving, patient and funny father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved companion of 33 years, Darla Todd; four daughters, Susan (Steven) Grego of Canonsburg, Margie Papariella of Canonsburg, Nancy (Chris Martine) Clark of McDonald and Jamie (Patrick) Iacovino of Charleroi; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Bill (Vickie) Hommey of Finleyville, Gene (Cynthia) Hommey of Utica, N.Y., Florence Trotta of Michigan and Jerry Hommey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Papariella; brother, John Jumet; and brother-in-law, Anthony Trotta. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Memorial contributions may be made to Fix Ur Cat, www.fixurcat.org.
