Florence Catharine Mitchell – California, Pa.

Florence Catharine Mitchell, 95, of California, Pa., died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023. She was born Saturday, Feb. 5, 1927, in Monongahela, a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Kasuba Sampler. She was active with the American Heart Association. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Mitchell; son, Sam Mitchell; brother, Rudy Sampler; and sister, Rita Miller. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Robert Mitchell and wife Debra of Charleroi and James Mitchell and wife Amelia of California; and sisters, Marie Anjard of San Diego, Calif., and Dolores Romi and husband Kenneth of Donora. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Katrina School and Christopher Libengood; and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, when a blessing service will begin with Father Efren Ambre officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
