Charles Johnson – Donora

Charles Johnson, 79, of Donora, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at UPMC in Pittsburgh. He was born March 10, 1943, in North Char- leroi, son of the late Joseph Johnson and the late Shirley Belles Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph B. Johnson; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Arrigoni and Joan “Chi Chi” Sberna. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Rose Sberna Johnson; two children, Raymond (Terra Brysh) Johnson of Glassport and Dana (Rich) Painter of Carroll Township; six grandchildren, Luke, Morgan, Caitlin, Matthew, Jared and Jacob; a brother, Raymond (Sharon) Johnson of Charleroi; a brother-in-law, Anthony Sberna; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Full military rites will be accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to American Legion Post No. 212 in Donora.
