Belle Vernon-based rock band Broom released a new single Jan. 27, “Back on the Road,” which is part of a self-titled EP that will be released alongside a free show at Rhythm House Studios in Charleroi this month.
Broom, a classic rock and metal band, currently has five members: Race Michener on vocals, Ben Filak on guitar, Bodie DuBreucq on guitar and back-up vocals, Carter Stasicha on drums and Caleb Beichner on bass. The band primarily plays at Mon Valley venues.
“Back on the Road” has an old-school rock and roll sound, according to Filak.
“We thought it was the best example of a song for us to put out that really shows what we are,” Filak said.
Michener primarily worked on the lyrics for the song, Filak said.
“It’s about, whenever you have a change in your life, getting back in the saddle and not looking back,” Filak said. “Understanding that you can just move on and think about the future and forget about the past.”
Rhythm House Studios has been a long supporter of the band and recorded the EP as a courtesy, according to Filak. It will host the EP release party 8 p.m. Feb. 24. In addition to a full show, there will be giveaways and an opportunity to hang out with the band.
“We wanna branch out our following as best we can, and we want to try and spread the word that Rhythm House is responsible for everything and that they exist and they have free music every Saturday,” Filak said.
