Elizabeth: Council hears support for annual Plum Street closure

Elizabeth residents voiced a desire to close Plum Street to car traffic for the summer during Tuesday’s council meeting. Elizabeth Area Development Corporation President Larry Ross discussed closing the street from June through the first week of September and said prior to the meeting, he heard chatter that there may have been pushback to the idea this year. “I wanted to discuss the closure of Plum Street for 2023,” Ross said to council. “I’m a little disappointed that’s not on the agenda tonight. In speaking with Mayor (Barry) Boucher a month and a half ago, it came up that maybe Plum Street would not be closed because it’s being underutilized.”
