Monessen making plans for anniversary celebration

Monessen Community Development Corporation was one of the local organizations that gave presentations during the city’s first economic summit held Friday. In addition to various state, federal and local officials, some community organizations offered presentations and still more set up tables in the cafeteria area outside the auditorium at Monessen High School where the summit was held. Former mayor Mary Jo Smith, representing Monessen Community Development Corporation in conjunction with the Greater Monessen Historical Society, talked about the city’s 125th anniversary this year.
