Dogs have good reason to chase fire trucks in Bentleyville.
Discover Pet Health Poochtique and Spaw, Bentley Fire Department and Washington County Animal Response Team will join forces 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Bentleyville Social Hall to host Fill a Fire Truck & Pet Expo.
Organizers hope to raise funds and donations for local animal rescues, including Bridge to Home Animal Rescue, Pet Search, Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, South Hills Pet Rescue and Save A Horse Stable.
Pet owners and their four-legged friends are invited to come for dog training tips, trainer demonstrations, caricature drawings, pet accessories and more.
“We’re going to do nail trims, nail painting for dogs, feathers and all that fancy stuff,” Poochtique owner and fire department member Sharee Kalchthaler said. “We’re also going to have pet CPR classes and demonstrations from the fire department and Washington County Animal Response Team.”
The day is free to attend. Hog Fathers BBQ will sell food to event-goers from the social hall parking lot and Marodi Media will offer Valentine’s Day pet photos for $10. The canine first aid/CPR class costs $60 per person.
Kalchthaler said there will also be a dog bakery.
