Eugene Emil Polachek, 65 of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022, at his home. Born on Dec. 17, 1957, in Charleroi, Eugene was the son of the late Emil and Mary Elizabeth Sheets Polachek. Eugene was employed as a coal miner for nearly 20 years. He then worked at the Meadows Racetrack part-time and also took care of his father. He moved to Las Vegas in 2004 and worked at The Plaza Casino Sports Book. He was retired at the time of his death. Eugene’s favorite pastime was following harness racing. Eugene is survived by his sister, Karen Relovsky of Glenshaw, Pa.; his nephew, Joshua (Kaleena) Relovsky; great-nieces Aurelia and Sloane; and great-nephew, Joshua Jr. of Franklin Park, Pa. A private memorial is being planned.
