Chief: Mon Valley EMS to stay open

Mon Valley EMS in Monessen will remain open despite some changes in the operation’s financial structure this week. Mon Valley EMS Chief Karen Newman said Wednesday that while Allegheny Health Network has chosen to not support the Monessen-based service financially anymore, the doors are still open. “We’re still Mon Valley EMS, we still have employees and we’re still answering calls,” Newman said. “We’re no different from anyone else.”
