Stephen Baptist Hega Sr. – North Charleroi

Stephen Baptist Hega Sr., 86, of North Charleroi, passed away at Jefferson Hospital on Jan. 13, 2023. Born on June 4, 1936, Steve was the son of late Steve and Josephine Appoloni Hega. Born and raised in Lock 4, Steve graduated from Charleroi Area High School in 1954 and married the love of his life, Emagene Parks. Shortly after high school, Steve joined the Army National Guard. Steve worked for many years for the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Allenport. He enjoyed gardening, going on vacations to the beach and writing poetry. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Steve will be sadly missed. Surviving to cherish Steve’s memory are his wife of 68 years, Emagene Hega; his son, Stephen B. (Kathy) Hega Jr.; his daughter, Valerie Jo (Bill) Stack; his grandchildren, Brett (Tracy) Katinsky, Brooke Katinsky, Rachel (Jason) Karelli, Stephen Hega and Nathan (Aly) Hega; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Luca and Giana Karelli and Kellan Hega. In addition to Steve’s parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Steffari. Per Steve’s wishes, all services were held private for the immediate family only. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
