Leonard J. Ross, 88, of Monessen, formerly of Gallatin, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at Hallsworth House, Monessen. He was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Gallatin, the son of John and Teresa Martelli Ross. Leonard was a graduate of Monongahela High School, Class of 1953. He resided on River Hill most of his adult life and was a peacetime veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired after 30 years of employment at Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela and played in their golf league. Leonard loved watching sports on television and was passionate about the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his wife, Eva “Ann” Williams Ross, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage on June 10, 2022; nephew, Lonny Tosi and wife Dianne of Celebration, Fla.; friends, Marie Woytovich and husband Ed of Charleroi, and Dave Stanisz and wife Cissy of Monessen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Zanardelli; daughter, Robin Zanardelli; brother, James Ross; and sister, Carmella Tosi. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.
