Walter J. ‘Wawa’ Freidhof Jr. – Long Branch and Monessen

Walter J. “Wawa” Freidhof Jr., 77, formerly of Long Branch and Monessen, passed away on Jan. 2, 2023, at South Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Canonsburg. He was born on April 8, 1945, son of the late Walter J. and Betty Prati Freidhof. Walter grew up in Monessen and was well known throughout the Mid-Mon Valley. Walter traveled throughout much of the U.S. with his late wife during their 31-year marriage. He is survived by his uncle, Arthur J. Prati; and cousins, Margaret Freidhof, Lois Freidhof, Marsha Freidhof, Norma (Jim) Lipari, Thomas Frantz, Albert Witmyer, Laura (Doug) Luckock and William Prati. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Freidhof, in 2017. Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery, Charleroi. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Salvation Army, give.salvationarmyusa.org, Salvation Army, 800 Thompson Ave., Donora, PA 15033.
