A 23-year-old Donora man who refused to testify during the preliminary hearing for the man accused in the Oct. 10 shooting at Bob’s Tavern in Finleyville was held in contempt of court Thursday.
Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh said earlier this month after the preliminary hearing for Keaundre Crews, 29, of Charleroi that he was considering action against Elijah White, who was subpoenaed to testify but asserted his Fifth Amendment right and refused.
During a contentious, five-hour hearing for Crews, who was ordered to stand trial on charges of criminal homicide and possession of a firearm by a person not permitted to own one in the Oct. 10 shooting death of Jaisen Irwin, Walsh called White, an alleged witness, to the stand.
As soon as Walsh asked White where he was on Oct. 10, White said, “I plead the Fifth.” According to video surveillance footage and the affidavit of probable cause, White, Crews and Irwin were involved in an altercation at Jim’s Bar in Monongahela before the shooting at Bob’s Tavern.
