Christy S. Runfola – Belle Vernon

Christy S. Runfola, 91, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at his home. Born Sept. 19, 1931, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Frank and Mammie Parnella Runfola. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Runfola was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. Christy was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport plant, where he worked as a millwright. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of American Legion Post 659 in Belle Vernon. He is survived by son, Christy M. Runfola of North Charleroi; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and David Smith of Columbus, N.J., Barbara Ann and Jim Strong of Akron, Ohio, and Teresa Jean Runfola of Donora; brother, Thomas Runfola of Sarasota, Fla.; sister, Catherine Maiolini of Rostraver Township; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Novicki. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Christy Runfola to Center in the Woods, California, Pa.
