Monessen to end 2022 with budget surplus

What a difference a year makes. When Monessen’s new administration took over during the first week of January this year, Mayor Ron Mozer announced they had been left with just $9,100 in the general fund and had to borrow $65,000 from the city’s line usage fund just to make 2022’s first payroll. After paying all the year-ending bills and leaving no bills unpaid to carry over into 2023, Monessen ends 2022 with $131,187 in the general fund.
