Fallowfield Township supervisors said they put residents first when preparing next year’s budget.
In addition to unanimously passing a roughly $2 million spending plan Wednesday night with no tax increase, supervisors budgeted to continue a program that will hire a full-time professional firefighter and medic.
In September supervisors Earl Sadler, Joe Sopchak and Chairman Bruce Smith unanimously agreed to spend about $14,000 to support the trial program for the remainder of 2022. The money came from the township’s general fund, but was given directly to the fire company to oversee the program.
They budgeted $125,000 for the position in 2023, which will include the full-time position and another new program for the fire company that will offer stipends to volunteers for calls they respond to.
