Shirley L. Walters, 86, of Monongahela, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, in ProMed-ica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, McMurray. She was born July 29, 1936, in Monongahela, the daughter of Alfred and Amelia “Millie” Chevine Loutitt. Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Monongahela High School. In her younger years, Shirley played amateur softball for Van Voorhis and won the championship in 1962. For several years, she was employed at Isaly’s in Monongahela and the Hanger Factory in New Eagle. She retired from the Ringgold School District, where she was employed in the cafeteria at Carroll Junior High School. She was a former member of the Ginger Hill Grange. Her favorite pastimes included bowling with several area leagues, playing cards, riding snowmobiles and quads, going to country music jam sessions and spending time at Eat’n Park. Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially vacationing in Myrtle Beach and going camping in Emporium and Greene County. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Lynne Protz of Monongahela; twin granddaughters, Jamie Lynne and Josie Lynne Protz and their father Jim Protz; sister, Betty Marynchak of New Eagle; sister-in-law, Frances “Poochie” Loutitt of Monongahela; aunt, Norma Fantasia of Florida; special nieces, Kim Van Voorhis and husband Jim and Darlene Marynchak; special nephew, Rich Loutitt; and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Mandy” Wesley Walters, who died Oct. 1, 2013; sister, Gloria Burgoyne; brothers, Charles and Richard Loutitt; nephews, Jeffrey and Charles Loutitt and John Rand; sisters-in-law, Betty Sutherland and husband Clyde and Antoinette “Babe” Loutitt; and brothers-in-law, Charles Walters and wife Dorothy and George Marynchak. Friends will be received from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, PA 16505, www.shrinerschildren.org.
