McKeesport City Council on Wednesday awarded a three-year contract to Big’s Sanitation to collect and haul trash and recycling.
And it was also revealed Wednesday that the city intends to take its current trash/recycling hauler, County Hauling, to court.
Before council approved the contract to the Rostraver Township-based company, Mayor Michael Cherepko explained that trash/recycling collection will be more expensive over the life of the contract.
Despite that, city residents will not see an increase in 2023 to the municipal services fee, which covers the costs associated with trash and recycling hauling and other services.
