Margaret R. ‘Peg’ Mellott – Liberty Borough

Margaret R. “Peg” Mellott, 95, of Liberty Borough, passed away on Dec. 4, 2022, at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Born on May 13, 1927, in Glassport, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella Makoski Murray and the wife of the late Ken Mellott for 56 years. After graduating from high school, Peg was fortunate to be employed by Copperweld Steel Company for 10 years. She loved her family, her faith, “old” and “new” friends, animals (especially dogs) and feeding the birds. Peg is survived by her sons, Mark and James of Liberty Borough and Robert of Noblesville, Ind.; granddaughters, Natalie (Ryan Taylor) Mellott and Emily (Larry) Barker; great-grandchildren, Ella, Ava, Drake, Vayda and Vance; and caring nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and beloved husband Ken, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, Richard Murray and Jim Murray; sisters, Sylvia (James) Paterson and Francis “Chick” (Jake) Jakubek. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4  and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at WILLIG FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, McKeesport. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Dec. 9, 2022, at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene Church. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
