Helen Pidanic Filak – North Belle Vernon

Helen Pidanic Filak, 97, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills. Born Sept. 24, 1925, in Donora, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Evoncin Pidanic. A resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 75 years, Mrs. Filak was Russian Orthodox by faith. Helen was a retired manager from the former Trocadaro Lounge in Belle Vernon and served as a master welder for American Bridge Plant in Ambridge during World War II, helping to build LSTs. Helen will be missed by all those who knew, loved and cherished her. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carolyn Filak of Plano, Texas, and Jeffrey and Bianca Filak of Woodland, Calif.; daughter, Andrea Filak of Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Filak, on Dec. 6, 2004; daughter, Judith Ann “Sandy” Revak; brother, Michael Pidanic, who was lost at sea aboard the USS Franklin in March 1945; and numerous other siblings. Funeral services and interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery will take place at a later date. Helen’s funeral arrangements are entrusted to PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183.
