Mark Anthony Williams – Meadville
Mark Anthony Williams, 63, passed away at Shadyside Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle against metastatic bladder cancer. He fought hard until the very end. Mark was born on Sept. 18, 1959, in New Eagle, son of the late Arthur and Dorothy Leyda Williams. Mark graduated from Ringgold High School in 1977 and studied auto diesel in vo-tech. After graduating high school, he continued his education to be an electronic technician. In 1987, he moved his family to Meadville. He was employed at Greenleaf Corporation in Saegertown in the maintenance department, where he enjoyed troubleshooting and fixing machines until he retired. Mark enjoyed working with his hands. He was often found tinkering in his garage or shed on numerous projects. He loved driving around in his 1998 GMC truck that he rebuilt from two trucks. He loved to make people laugh with silly jokes. He always made sure to make Christmas extra special for his kids and took them on vacation every year. Last summer, he was delighted to go back to his favorite place in the world, Chincoteague Island, Va., with his daughters and granddaughters. The greatest joy and accomplishment in his life was being a Pap Pap. Mark is survived by his children, Nathan Williams, Megan Schmitz and Amy Custard; beloved grandchildren, Gracelyn Cowher, Travis Custard, Violette Custard, Lillian Schmitz and Lydia Schmitz; siblings, Cathy (Harry) Castor, Steven Williams and Patrick (Janice) Williams; and way too many nieces, nephews and cousins to count. Welcoming him into the biggest celebration in heaven are his parents; his infant granddaughter, Anna Renee Schmitz; his sister, Lori Barkey; his brother, Jack Williams; and his infant brother, John Williams. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, at which time a funeral service will be held with Certified Celebrant Olivia DeRose Behanna. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray the funeral expenses.
