Marjorie Rue Jonas, 82, of Monongahela, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at her home. She was born April 26, 1940, in East Monongahela, daughter of James A. “Alex” and Florence Guilkey Rue. Margie was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, Class of 1958. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela and every Sunday morning after church, she enjoyed brunch with her family. Left to cherish her memory is the love of her life, George J. Jonas Jr., with whom she celebrated 65 beautiful years of marriage on July 12, 2022; her five children, Jeffrey Jonas of Longmont, Colo., Judi Jonas of Monongahela, Michael Jonas and his wife Dawn of Bristol, Susie Purcell and her husband Tom of Greensboro, N.C., and Jane Jonas-Homa and her husband Dwayne of Monongahela; 13 grandchildren, Jason Scheponik and his wife Leigh-Ann, Josh Scheponik and his wife MacKenzie, Kristi Scheponik, Jackie Vasquez and her husband Cisco, Sara Jonas, Josh Beeck and his wife Melissa, Derek Jonas, Alex Jonas, Nicole Krueger and her husband Nick, Stephanie Purcell, Hunter, Weston and Kaylin Homa; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Blangger of Monongahela; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Lane Jonas, who died in 1990 and Gregory Jonas who died in infancy; sisters, Ida Mae Atkins and Cathy Kotcella; and brother, James “Ducky” Rue. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main Street, Monongahela. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Monongahela. Committal services and interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Madonna Catholic Regional School, 731 Chess St., Monongahela, PA 15063, or the Monongahela Area Library, 813 W. Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063.
